Our books are about the people who help us through them, and how to be one of those people. Warm, honest, easy to read, and useful the same day.
We started Cloudy Reads to make small, beautiful books about the most ordinary and important thing people do: look after each other.
There are plenty of books about becoming more productive. We wanted books about becoming more present: noticing a friend who has gone quiet, knowing what to say when someone gets bad news, and building the kind of community that shows up with casseroles and folding chairs.
Each title is a PDF you buy once and keep. No subscription, no app, no account. Just a well-made book and, if you want it, a companion workbook to put the ideas into practice.
How we write

Real stories, sourced
Every true story is checked against published reporting or research and cited at the back of the book.
Examples, clearly labelled
When we use an everyday scenario to explain an idea, we say it's an example. We never pass it off as fact.
Short and useful
Big type, short chapters, and something to try at the end of each one. Finish a chapter on a lunch break.
Honest about limits
Kindness isn't a cure-all. Our books say when it's time for a doctor, a counselor, or a crisis line.
What we won't do
- Invent testimonials, reviews, or customer counts
- Present made-up people as real
- Sign you up for a subscription or drip emails
- Run advertising trackers on this site
